I was thinking about a 19" LCD as the price is not a lot more expensive
than a 17". However, the more I learn, it seems to me there're
actually not a lot of reason why I should go for 19" LCD. Please tell
me if the following argument makes sense or not: 19" costs around $100+
more than 17". The viewable area of 19" is ~25% more than 17",
however, the resolution are mostly the same at 1280x1024, which means
the number of pixels are the same and the only difference is that the
pixels are bigger (.26 vs .29, hence bigger screen). Because of bigger
pixels, the picture will actually look more pixelated than 17". Also
for most of the 19" LCD response time is not as good as 19".
With the thoughts I have above, I conclude that for now, 17" is a
better buy than 19" in terms of
viewable-area/price/performance/quality.
