1.1 sp1

Hi Brian,

I think we may just redo the job that we deploy the .net framework over AD
just as we run the sp1 msi file on the machine which has .net framework
installed.
If you still have any concern, please feel free to post here.

Hi,

There is no MSI file, only a MSP file that can be integrated into the MSI
file... but the integrated version causes a file not found error... at least
how i did it to integrade the SP1 MSP file into the .NET 1.1 MSI file

Hello Brian,

The recommended way for deploying the service pack is from the Windows
Update website:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

It is a "Critial Update" with very high priority.

On the other hand, you may also try patching Administrative Installation,
e.g. install the MSI to an image on the network and then patch the image.
Then end-users can install the Framework from the Administrative
Installation image:

Applying a Patch Package to an Administrative Installation
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/msi/setup/a
pplying_a_patch_package_to_an_administrative_installation.asp

Using Patches
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/?url=/library/en-us/msi/setup/using_patche
s.asp?frame=true

I hope this helps.

Hi Jeff,

It seems to me that your system is not in a good state... We still have a
DCOM remote debugging case open. Have you had the opportunity to try my
suggestions, by granting access to the "ANONYMOUS LOGON" account?

Before installing the service pack, let's preform a clean boot:

Under clean boot, we can ensure that there is no third party interfering.
Does it help?

That's probablby because I'm in a workgroup and not a domain environment.
Before installing the service pack, let's preform a clean boot:

I tried that, and the service pack loads up, but never runs (with
Task Manager running I never see any application.

I also tried installing from safe boot, no difference.

Before installing the service pack, let's preform a clean boot:

I slipstreamed XP / SP2 onto a cd-rom and re-installed.
After drivers installed, downloaded .NET 1.1 and then upgraded to SP1
without any issues.

Haven't installed Visual Studio .NET (Academic) yet, hope this isn't causing
problems.
