Eh? Are you talking about the zoom box on the toolbar?

Nope, they are not the same. Fit will fit the slide as large as possible
with no scrolling necessary on the current screen. 100% will be the
actual size the slide will be in slide show view, so in Normal/Edit view
(with toolbars and taskpanes showing), you will have to scroll to see the
whole thing.

"Fit" ensures that the entire slide fits in the PPT window, no matter how large
or small it is. For example, watch what happens when you make the notes and
outline/slides panes very large and the slide pane small.

"Fit" will make the whole slide appear in the slide pane.
100% makes the slide appear at a fixed size.

Aha! Thank you. I was wondering "100% of *what*?"

I sounded really authoritative when I said that, but I just tried it out
to see what I got, and what I got was a zoomed into the size of slide
show view. Maybe I should have looked it up in Kathy's book to see if I
was right:)
