ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall log quit logging Incoming messages

ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall log quit logging Incoming messages.
I’ve been running Windows XP and ZoneAlarm Pro for a few years with Comcast
as the internet provider. Recently switched to Verizon DSL and noticed that
ZA quit reporting incoming messages to the firewall log. Contacted ZA and
under their direction “completely†removed ZoneAlarm Pro and reinstalled with
the same results. Other ZA logs seem to be reporting both incoming and
outgoing messages. Can’t figure out why the incoming firewall log data isn’t
being reported. Contacted Verizon but they can’t answer any questions that
can’t be found in their FAQ’s. The next thing I’m looking at is Windows XP
and its firewall. The firewall is turned off but I’m wondering if it could
interferer with the ZA log. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you were not using an internet router before and are now [maybe supplied
by ISP?] then connection attempts would be stopped by internet router and
never reach your computer. The Windows Firewall will not interfere if it is
disabled and you can check that with the command netsh firewall show state
and look at operational mode. Also if you installed any software from
Verizon it may include a software firewall or network traffic filtering. I
am not quite sure what you mean by "Other ZA logs seem to be reporting" when
you say that Zone Alarm Pro is not? . --- Steve

Thanks for the response.

Under “Alerts & Logs†ZoneAlarm Pro has 4 logs, “Anti-spywareâ€, “Firewallâ€,
“OSFirewall†and “Programsâ€. All are fed by a single file, ZALog.txt. I was
trying to point out a specific type of message being lost. I guess “myâ€
message is the one that got lost (LOL). Anyway, only the incoming messages
from the ISP are being lost. “OSFirewall†and “Programs†report 2-way traffic
and “Anti-spyware†is not applicable to this. Verizon did supply a Westell
6100 DSL2+ router and software. The router part was overlooked by me, thanks
for correcting my focus. Contacting Verizon has proven to be a waste of time
so I’ll start looking into the Westell.
