I'm not sure adding it to hosts file is a good idea. You won't be able to
get updates if you manually check or if ZoneAlarm automatically checks. You
may also be blocking yourself from the Zone Labs support forums.

An alternative is to use PeerGuardian or ProtoWall to block ZoneAlarm's
phoning home. Whenever I reboot, ZoneAlarm Pro tries to make numerous
connections to the website. PeerGuardian blocks them all. ZoneAlarm
periodically phones home throughout the day, and PeerGuardian blocks them
all.

I can disable PeerGuardian simply by selecting Disable from the icon in the
system tray. Then I can manually check for ZoneAlarm updates. When done, I
re-enable PeerGuardian to block those annoying connections to the Zone Labs
servers.
