Xavier

I have not yet received SP2 and just installed the subject
version of ZoneAlarm.

Subsequently I just read the Microsoft KB Article 884130
that says that ZoneAlarm loses functionality when running
on a Windows XP SP2-based computer, as follows:

"When you try to remove ZoneAlarm, you receive a Stop
error message or your computer restarts before the
uninstall program finishes".

A couple of questions:
(1) Does anybody have any recommendations about this?
(2) Do I uninstall ZoneAlarm now, before I get SP2?

Another troubling though is that the KB Article 884130
doesn't say whether the referred "removal" is done using
the Add-Remove XP program OR whether is done using the
recommended approach by ZoneAlarm of using its uninstall
program to ensure that everything is removed.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
Xavier

All Zone Alarm versions starting with 5.x.xxx.xxx have been having problems
with all versions of Windows. (Check the ZoneLabs forums for a massive list
of issues.)

If you can find it - use version 4.5.594.00; it runs with SP2 just fine.

Download version 5.1.011 (its is free if you have a previous version). It wil
work fine and when SP2 is installed, you'll see that it leaves ZA be the
firewall (I made sucessfully the SP2 update on 16 computers all with ZA
5.1.011).

I would not recommend it.

As I said, many complaints in the ZoneLabs forums have not been resolved.

I have had ZA uninstalled since the 5.1.x update did not solve
the problems I was having with their 5.0.x
