I use Skinny Zipper ( v2.3 ), weighs in at just over 600kb so it's,
er, skinny.
It's basic, but usable once you associate zip files with it (
shift+right click...select open with and navigate to the skinny zipper
exe ).
Only drawback I've found is that it locks up in 640x480 screen mode -
which is only really a limitation when you're setting up windows and
haven't installed the video drivers.

Good suggestion, but you missed freecommanders best feature IMHO.
The fact that it will run from a flash drive.
I really like the whole portable apps thing, being able to carry around
most of my favourite programs, configured how I like them, on a small
device hanging around my neck, is pretty close to my ideal for now.

- small enough to fit on a floppy disk
- option for antivirus scanning and external editor
- multilanguage
- there are versions for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, so you can download the
one(s) that you need
- freeware/open source

Yoy simply cannot beat WinImp. Just 265k self installing file.
