zip/postal code

I use outlook to store names of companies and people I
want to mail merge. My outlook will not accept a
zipcode+ 4 number when I import from an excel sheet or
from any other format for that matter. Just comes up
blank in the address line of the entry. Also, when I
import normal 5 digit zip code, the system add .000
as in 20874.000. When I merge my letters or labels I
have to go into "find & replace" and eliminate the .000.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,

i would guess that you are importing the wrong data type. the zip+4 should
probably be a string and not a number. the .000 means that it is being
interpreted as a floating point number. this would also cause import of
"12345-1234" to fail as that is not a valid floating point number format.
