I have a system with a K7V motherboard. System was working fine, until we
moved. First time system was plugged in and turned on after the move, there
was that nice smell of something that "smoked". The monitor was certainly
dead
afterwards(didn't work on any of our other systems afterwards). The system
gets
the "beep" code indicating that no video card is found. Nothing ever comes
up
on the monitor(a "good" monitor that is), but all the fans come on,
including on
the CPU and the video card, plus all the drives get a "hit". Of course
after a moment or 2 the system then powers itself off. Reseated everything
including
memory, reset BIOS, unplugged evrything except video card. Connections
seem to be OK. Other video adapter isn't seen either, and the video adapter
that was in the system when it "smoked" is still fine.....it works when used
in
another system. Kinda weird.... if the monitor and the motherboard both
went
at the same time I had expected the graphics card(Hercules 3D Prophet 4500)
would also be fried. I'll be looking for another MOBO(not so easy since
it
was a pre-Pentium4 ATX Form Factor Card) unless someone has another idea.

try swapping the power supply first...
it may have one rail that is no longer functioning correctly.
Thi swill allow what looks like a partial power up.
But the system will not boot.

Well, I was able to get the system to come back up. I took an old PCI
console adapter card and stuck it in a PCI slot and the system recognized it
and came back up. It appears the AGP slot is fried, though.
