Change your conditional formatting formulas to only refer to cells on the
target worksheet.

This is working on the original workbook before I copy it to this
workbook. What could be wrong?

It is difficult to be more specific than I was previously with the limited
information you have supplied. However, that message usually means that one or
more of your conditional format formulas are referring to a reference on a
different worksheet than the one where you are performing the conditional
format.

Since you have not chosen to share any more details or your worksheet,
formulas, data, etc., the generic response is that you need to examine your
conditional formatting formulas, and change references that do not refer to the
new worksheet. The more information you supply, the more specific can be the
recommendations.

For example, it would have been helpful had you posted copies of the actual
conditional formatting formulas; along with the full path name to the worksheet
on which they exist.

sounds like your conditional formatting got copied with a ref to the old
file.
You can try to re-assign the links to the new workbook using
Edit>>links, if the equivalent of the original reference exists in the
new workbook.
Or you might want to use select special to select those cells with
conditional formatting and delete it so you can set it up correctly
within the new workbook.
