"You do not have permissions to update Windows XP,..." Error

I am logged in as the administrator and am trying to upgrade to SP2 but
receive this error every time the file (WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe)
extracts and attempts to load. I have used different accounts (default
administrator account and my own) and I still receive the error.

Also, I've noticed that for some time now most of my security updates,
previous to the release of SP2, never deployed. When I look in the history
file there's an error message beside each patch.

Can someone help?

Blake try this:

1. log on as local admin
Click Start, click Run, and then type the following command:
regedit
3. Click OK.
4. Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update
5. Right-click the Auto Update folder, and then click Permissions.
6. Make sure that the Administrators group has Full Control.
