Yellow Ink Missing When Printing

I am using WindowsXp Home with updated SP2 <updated 8/30> on a Dell Dimension
4500. I have 2 printers, both HP. 1. hpdeskjet 940c and 2. hpdeskjet 960c.
Brand new ink cartrige, tri color, NOT generic. I have ran allignment,
cleaning and priming...with no success on both printers. I get the light
blues and pink boxes on the test paper but all the yellow boxes are missing.
I'm not allowed to change the pixels to a higher resolution either. I have
tried Help and Support and can't find an answer or solution...Is there
something I can do about this? Is it a SP2 problem? And if so, can I fix it?

A couple of questions:

Are you using the same cartridge in both machines?

How long has this been a problem? Were both machines working before?

How are they connected (serial, parallel, USB etc.) ?

Were both machines working properly before?

Was anything changed between the time it worked and stopped working?
(New computer, new operating system, new software, printer drivers?)

OK it was more than a couple of questions.

Without having the answers, about the only thing I can suggest to delete
the printers and then re-install them after checking for new printer
drivers.
