Year Related Field

Can anyone please tell me how to create a field that will contain a database
record serial number which is specific to the fiscal year. ie - I want it to
re-set to 1 on 1 April. All my records are manually serial numbered at the
moment as autonumber skips occasionally and I would like to set it up to
"autonumber" automatically, but re-set at the start of the fiscal year.
Any ideas??
