Yahoo Mail: DNS Error

Hi,

Every time I click one of the links in my yahoo mail web page after
logging in I get a page that tells me that "The page cannot be
displayed" and ends with "Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer "

This is only hapening with yahoo mail and I am able to log into the
first page of this service with a URL of the type:
http://uk.f527.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login?.rand=772a96........

The URL of a failed link has the following structure:
http://uk.f527.mail.yahoo.com/ym/ShowFolder?YY=37...&box=Inbox&YN=1

If I hit the back button and try to reload the page again the page
seems to be stuck waiting for data (the IE flag at the top right hand
corner moves) but nothing happens.

I would be grateful if someone could suggest a solution (or a link to
one).

Thanks

I have been having the same problem browsing with IE. I have three
yahoo mail accounts and for a short time only one of them didn't work.
Now all three do not open the mail page.

The interesting thing is that Firefox works just fine with all the
yahoo mail accounts.

The exact IE error message is

might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to
adjust your browser settings.

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is
spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then
click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The
settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN)
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can
set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically
discover network connection settings (if your network administrator
has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu
and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength
security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security
settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet
Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check
settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer
*****************************

I use XP with SP2 and all updates, no spyware for sure, ZA Pro
firewall up to date. I cleaned all the temporary internet files,
deleted all cookies, set IE to the default levels for browsing, and
cleaned all the index.dat files found on my computer (using Ccleaner).
I have a cable connection, no network or router.

My computer at work running under Windows 2000 can view the email
page just fine. I do not think reinstalling IE will help because of
the few weeks that only one account was "corrupt" and the other two
email acounts opened just fine.

Does anyone know any fix for this?

I have written to yahoo but don't have a reply as yet.

I deleted all cookies and cached files to no avail. I downloaded and
installed Opera but no joy either.

This seems to be a frequent problem with yahoo. Could it be that maybe
they would like to encourage used to move to their premium service?

Strangely, Yahoo "Check Mail" seems to be working this morning. I have
checked each Yahoo account twice and each time I could get into the
mail. I have done so many things that I don't know what changed, of if
it was anything I did at all. Computers sometimes just do strange
unexplainable things....

One thing worth mentioning though, yesterday I thought I found a
"work-around" that went like this:

I found a link below the Yahoo Calendar "Yahoo! Calendar" and clicked
it. Then I clicked the drop down tab under Mail called "Folders". Then
I clicked the "Inbox". That got me into my mail account. That worked
yesterday when the other "Check Mail" link would not work. I can't
explain anything. I usually use Firefox which works just fine but my
husband likes to use IE so I want that to work as well.

Hopefully my Yahoo Mail will continue to work. I will post back it I
have further problems.

Hi,

I used to get same problem. I reinstalled OS and tried but no luck. But When
I disabled my proxy setting is IE "connection" tab and used SSL 2.0 only then
Yahoo started working for me.

Another workaround I found is log on to Yahoo Messenger first then get into
e-mail.
