xy chart areas

Does anyone know if it is possible in excel to calculate
the area under a curve in an xy chart?

Excel does not have any functions that will automatically integrate a
function. If the curve is a polynomial, you can use LINEST or the
charting tool to estimate the polynomial coefficients and integrate it
yourself

For numerical integration in Excel, do a Google search for terms such as
Integral, Integrate, Integration, Quadrature, Simpson's Rule,
Trapezoidal Rule, etc.
