Have been trying to install Windows XP on a Silicon Image 3112 SATA RAID 0
HDD array consisting of two Western Digital 36GB, 10,000 RPM HDD's. After I
press F6 and Install the appropriate RAID driver Windows XP SP1 Setup
recognizes and formats the the single partition C:\, and looks for bad
sectors (long format). Setup then copies files to the partition successfully
and reboots the computer. The computer boots into Windows Setup and proceeds
to install Windows. During this time A window opens that says, basically,
"Files needed by Setup cannot be found", then, "Please insert your Windows
XPsp1 CD into drive D:\".
The CD is in the drive. Nothing I do at this point will work. I have to
cancel and Setup continues to Install Windows. When it is done and reboots
Windows is in classic style, very few services are running, very few things
will work properly, no mmc, no help center and programs/ drivers won't
install or install with errors.
The same, original, OEM Windows XP sp1 CD installs Windows perfectly every
time on my ATA drive on the same computer with no errors in the setuperr.log
I have tried 4 times today with the same results, Windows installs but is
severely crippled. Each time I tried I made some changes in the BIOS such as
undoing/rebuilding the array, low level format on each seperate drive,
reloading configuration data with SATA disable then re-enabling, rebooting,
re-enabling and rebuilding the array and disabling the ATA controller for
the HDD not the CD drive. I tried different versions of the si3112 Raid
driver including the one from my motherboard manufacture's website (Abit
NF7-S v2.0).

Have searched MS KB, Google and motherboard manuals and can't seem to solve
this problem.
