XPP/SP2 and Outlook2003 saving emails?

I just archived all emails before 1/1/2007 into a file called 20070418.pst.
Then I thought I wanted "ALL" of them to be archived so I did another archive
function but this time I did it from 4/18/2007 to the same file,
20070418.pst. Please tell me that the older emails are still there and the
newer emails just added on to the older file. If not that means that all the
old emails are gone? To afraid to check as yet. If the later senario is
true, is there any way to get all my emails back?

thanks,
charles.......

It appends it so everything is there. Use File-> Open-> Outlook Data File to
connect the pst-file.

I found 3 .pst files in the Outlook directory as follows:

Outlook.pst 797,585 KB 4/18/2007 7:30pm
20070417.pst 684,497 KB 4/18/2007 7:30pm
backup.pst 265 KB 2/7/2006 4:52pm
extend.dat 1 KB 4/6/2007 2:43pm

I was soooo happy to read your answer. I immediately copied all of the
above to my backup system. I am sure that I can recreate my emails after I
rebuild my XPP machine from scratch. Any other gotchas I need to worry about?

thanks ever so much.

Extend.dat isn't a pst-file and doesn't have to be transfered.

For all of them? When you right click on a mail folder in Outlook and choose
Properties-> Folder Size does the size indicate something has to be in
there?
