XPE system tray icon missing sometimes.

Hi there,

I built an XPE image, when it boots, logon with a mouse click(the password is
blank), the number of the icons which are supposed to show on the right
bottome corner of the taskbar changes everytime. For example, the audio
volume icon will disappear sometimes.(I am sure the checkbox of the 'display
icon on the taskbar' for audio divice is checked).
I didn't enable the auto-hide-icon function either, so please don't doubt
this.

But I also find that, if I wait long enough(i.e.more then 1 minutes) before
I click the user account, then the icons will all be there.

It seems related to the time delay. Does the system tray has some bug?

What is going on? Can anybody give a explanation?

Great thanks in advance!

Tony,

I have not seen such behaviour, but I wonder if that delay is related to
DHCP problem.

If you have network present and did not changed IP settings from DHCP to
static, in case that you do not have DHCP server present your XPe will take
20-30 extra seconds per network adapter to fully initialize.

Quick test fix:
Disconect all network cables from target device and let us know if problem
persist.

Tony,

Your problem is confusing because you have icons if you wait long enough.
So common problems as missing components or missing configuration is not
solution for you.

What icons do you have in tray? MS or third party programs?

My loose guess would be that some driver/service was not available during
the logon and that missing icons represent programs that did not started
because of missing service or driver that they control.

First you should pinpoint what programs vanish and tell us so that we can
get some idea.

Dear all,

New results found!

If i disable the eventlog service, and reboot, then everything is OK.
And if i set the eventlog service to be automatically started, then the icon
missing problem recures.

Is there something can be said?
