Hi Carl,

1. Use bootvis for time diagnostic.
2. Make smaller image without services that do not need to run.
3. Use minlogon
4. Use faster boot medium.
5. Use faster processor.
6. Don't use network.

Best regards,

Carl,
Is there any way to speed up the XPE startup process ?

- Disable DHCP.
- Strip out unnecessary components. Epsecially the ones that effect the
boot time (services, etc.)
- Use tool like BootVis to see what can be improved in the boot sequence.

I've noticed that regardless of processor speed, it takes the same amount of
time to initialize each NIC when using DHCP. 20 seconds per NIC.
Serialized. Our device has 3 NICs and each is using DHCP. :-( Its an
extra 60 seconds on our tired little Geode and on our peppy Crusoe. :-(

I have an update. This might help somebody who are still facing slow
boot start up.

Once you have booted your XPe, go to services and look for Distributed
Transaction Coordinator.

Select that service and change the Logon type to System and Disable
the Service.

Try re booting the machine after disbaling the service and see does it
make any changes in your booting speed.

For some reasons, this service is not getting started and in registry
path is not mentioned properly. even if you give correct path, service
is not starting.

Try this setting and let me know.
