I have heard that with XPe SP2 will have a new method of update the system
with QFEs that is much more automated than what we currently have. Is this
true? Any details?

The basics of what we have been told and shown, are this:

1. Desktop QFE installer - This is a tool that allows local installation of
QFE's to the XPE target device. This tool has been up and down on the site a
couple times now, but I believe that all is well with it. It's a manual
thing, however

2. The SMS client - This allows updates to be "pushed" to a target device,
using Systems Management Server. The customer is responsible to obtain the
QFE's and upload them into the SMS.

3. The new one - SUS (System Update Service or Server) allows the client to
"pull" updates down from a central location, much like WU, but it's not
officially WU. the end-user is responsible to update the server side piece
with appropriate QFE's and such. this one has been dubbed "poor man's
windows update" as the customer is 100% responsible for maintenance of this
service. There is a Device update agent that runs on the target device that
queries the SUS, and pulls the updates down.

As we know it, That's all there is at this point. Again, MS does not license
the use of WU for a production environment with XPE.

Hope this helps.
