XPE on a Microdrive

Hi
Can anyone clarify my dilemma. I'd like to use a 1GB Microdrive in an ide/cf reader as my media but I'm not having any luck. Do I need to use EWF as it is essentially a CF card or can I get it to work as an IDE HDD
by the way, I've not managed to boot with anything yet. If i use EWF i get NTLDR missing, if i use NT Loader i get a black screen

EWF isn't really necessary for harddisks, unless you want to protect
the boot partition against changes/defects. I would recommend EWF if
the device will be "shut down" by turning off the power.

It sounds like the problem occurs before the system can load anything.

Was the partition marked active (especially when you had the black
screen)?

Boot sector healthy? If in doubt, format the drive as NTFS under
Win2000 or XP. FAT/Bootprep combinations don't always work, with NTFS
you don't need bootprep.

I don't think it's in boot.ini, errors there cause different symptoms.

Hey Peter

Where did you find the IDE/CF reader? Does this reader plug right onto the
motherboard? I am looking for a CF Type II to IDE adapter so I too can test
a Microdrive. I have all the adapters I need that connect directly to the
Motherboards IDE port but all are Type I and my Microdrive does not fit.

If you have a chance I would love to know what you are using.
