Has anyone heard of this file, xpbdple.scr? My virus program issues a
warning at bootup that this file is set to execute at bootup. I cannot
delete the file because it is in use. In addition regedit and task manager
now stay open for about 1 minute, before closing down!

I would get a second opinion on your virusscan software. Go to
housecall.trendmicro.com and use their free virus scan.
