xp2 upgrade using sp1 disk...Please help

Made a slipstream XP2 cd from the following....

1) Original OEM XP Home disk
2) Service Pack 2 upgrade

Followed steps and disk was bootable (burned using Nero)

Then tried to use it to repair existing installation.

All was going well until a whole set of files could not be copied...all
appear to be from folder F:\i386 e.g.

comadmin.dl_
migregdb.ex_
xolehlp.dl_
msdctm.dl_
msdtcprx.dl_
msdtcuii.dl_
clbcatq.dl_
comuid.dl_

etc well over 40 files (I stopped counting!)

All files, when I browsed existed nut without the extension e.g.
comadmin.dl_ existed as comadmin with a type of dl_ So have I simply somehow
not copied the .extensions???

All help really appreciated

Try running "chkdsk /f" (without the quotes). Then try it again. You might
have some bad sectors on your hard drive. If after running the disk
checker, you still get the error, the problem may be with the CD or the CD
drive. Try doing a second installation on another computer. If it fails,
then most likely the CD is bad. You will probably need to make a new
slipstreamed CD.
