i have had to install xp home again as my old system had a fatal error, they are both on fat32, it wasnt a clean install as all my data is/was on the old system, i have used the tranfer wizard to collect and tranfer all my files and settings, but how do i get everything re loaded again, all my music and oictures etc are there but how do i get them up and running again, i would then like to deletee the unstable xp.

The file and settings transfer wizard does not copy your programs. Be sure
you have your program discs, keys, passwords, and sources for downloaded
programs so you can reinstall the programs you need after you reinstall the
OS. The procedure is at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315341&Product=winxp

Try to do a "repair" install before you wipe the disc as that may be all you
need to do.

If the new install is located on the same partition as the old one, that is
a recipe for eventual problems. Grab your data, transfer it to other media
and then reinstall everything: Windows and applications. Once that is done,
transfer your data (and settings if you have saved those too) to the new
setup.

If the new install is on a separate partition, boot to that new Windows.
Update it and reinstall your applications. Transfer you data and settings.
Then delete the old Windows from its partition. NOTE: Before deleting the
old Windows, edit the boot.ini file to remove the references to the old
installation. Or you can use Start> Run> MSCONFIG> Boot.ini> Check boot
paths to clean up the boot.ini file.
