my xp wont start up..just hangs on after windows xp
status bar...how do i boot from xp cd? i want to ulitize
the repair function from the xp cd...thanks

You don't actually say how old your pc is. The reason i
ask is because we first need to know whether your cd is
the first boot option. If it isn't then you need to alter
this in the bios. If you pc is less than say 3 years old
the cd boot option should be enabled.
Insert your XP cd into your cd-rom and reboot your
machine. XP will begin to reinstall by copying files to
memory. After it completes this copying it will check
your hard disk to see if any version of windows is
installed. Obviously it will find one. The Welcome to
Setup screen will then give you two options: Repair or
install New copy. Read the screen details carfully and
take the Repair option. XP will then reinstall all the
necessary files to repair your installation

Hope this helps
