XP Won't Load - Can it be resold?

I recently bought the 2002 XP Home Upgrade, but it simply
won't load on my Compaq 7465 (had my I.S. guys at work try
and just won't take it). Tried to navigate to MS support
to ask a question but they'd obviously rather have non-
employees relay company policies...

In any event, does anyone know whether the software can be
resold to another party, since it didn't load on my PC,
even though it's now out of the box? I was lucky enough
to have the MS support folks help me on the phone on one
occasion, so I fear now that they have my name associated
with this particular product code , another user
attempting to load the upgrade on their PC may get denied.
Apologies for the long question - any thoughts? Thanks.

Go to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.
Then click on "End-User License Agreement".

Read paragraph 4. This will explain how to transfer/sell
within the legal parameters of your Windows XP license agreement.

As it has not been activated (and if a retail upgrade even if it had
been as long as it had been uninstalled) it is free to pass on. You
will have to provide everything - including the CD, cert of authenticity
(on the box - preferably all in the box) and documents and especially
the product Key.

Compaq hardware is highly proprietary, and it is not surprising that a
system that has not been customised to it will not install

quite possibly the readson it want install could be due to your bios
version. I had the same trouble with WinXP Pro. After I updated my bios
version to the most recent and reloaded XP it worked.

If it's a retail version, and it's not installed on your machine, you are
able to resell it. It's in the MS user license.
