while upgrading my video card drivers yesterday I got this
problem. The PC froze in the middle of installing the
drivers, so I rebooted the pc, Then I got the message "
windows could not start because a missing or corrupt file"
the file is "windows\system 32\config\system" also it told
me that if I wanted to repair the problem, to boot up from
the XP pro CD and run the repair program. I did that, but
everytime the computer just froze(The last time I try, I
left the pc running overnigth and have the same screen
that I have before going to bed). Do I have to reinstall
XP pro? I activated XP pro 3 days ago, would this be a
problem? I also upgraded my bios before changing my video
drivers. Thx in advance for any help

No the activation won't be a problem. First try a "Repair" install. Not the
recovery console.

Or try pressing F8 at the bootup & select "Last Know Good Configuration"
from the menu. You can also try to boot in "Safe Mode", if it is the video
driver that will bypass the driver and start in basic VGA mode.

config" Now I will try to see what went wrong. Thx A bunch
for the help guys
