XP Upgrade Failure

R

Rusty

Upgrading W2K to WXP on a dell dimension XPS B1000.

After all of the install had completed the machine is now
locked in a repeating re-boot cycle.

When I try and boot into safe mode I get a reboot at
agp440.sys.

Several KB notes say to start the recovery console and
disable agp440.sys....however I cannot get out of the
setup mode when I boot to the upgrade CD.

Ideas ? Weapons ?

Thanks in advance.

Rusty.

AGP400.SYS would be the last driver that loaded, so its not going to be the
problem here. Most likley a third party service. What did the upgrade
report tell you when you first installed? Can you get into recovery console
and disable services? If so, I would disable all third party services and
re-upgrade. If not, use Shift+F10 during the installation to try and stop
some services there.

Ahhh...ok......I cannot get to the recovery console, never given the option
and pressing R during boot to the upgrade disk does not get me there.

I can have the upgrade disk try and finish the installation but I'm not sure
when to (or if you can) Shift+F10.

Would booting to a full version disk or XP get me the recovery console ?
(can always get one from work)

Thanks,

Rusty.
