When I download and install Windows XP (critical)
Updates, do I need to disable my Norton Antivirus and
Norton Internet Security (Firewall) software?

Many thanks

Steve

It's not necessary to do so. I have Norton installed and never
had a problem installing Windows Updates with Norton running.

Steve,

No need to disable them. Disable NIS only if you face problems running
Windows Update. there are few issues with WindowsUpdate and
firewall/anti-virus software. But still I have them enabled while running
windowsupdates. Should you encounter any problem while installing updates,
them disable them temporarily.

Greetings Steve,

I don't think it's point to disable them. Leave them enabled all the time
even when your are updating your computer from Windows Update.
