XP tells me to format D: slave drive after reinstalling XP on c:

My C: drive failed and I took all my info and place it on my 300GB Western
Digital D: slave drive. I did this in safe mode. Dell sent me a new C:
Dell had me reinstall windows XP on C:

Windows XP recognizes that there is a EIDE drive at the D: but tells me to
reformat. Please anyone tell me how to get windows to recognize all the data
that was on the D: slave drive. The Windows XP is updated with SP2 and all
the updates. The C: is a SATA drive. I didn't change any jumpers or
anything besides pull the old C: out and replace it. Dell already took my C:
with them with the tech man replaced the boot drives.

Please help me get windows XP to see all the data on D:

Thanks in advance.

You have nothing to worry about. It's actually very simple when you think about it: When you reinstalled XP, it created new user accounts. The files on your slave drive belong to an account that XP doesn't recognize. All you need to do is tell XP "It's cool - those are my files." This is called 'taking ownership' in computer talk.
