XP Task Bar Not displaying

Hi,

On my XP-Pro system my task bar no longer displays when I
login under any account. Prior to this happen I received
an error message about the system register being restore
to a previous version. I can login but have no desktop
icons or start button. I can bring up the task manager and
run cmd, notepad, etc. I can not run system restore. Does
anynone know how I can get my task bar back?

Might as well run a "repair" install from a boot disk at this point.
