Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt: <winnt root>\System32\ Ntoskrnl.exe.

I installed XP over WIN ME and it ran for 3 days with no
problems, after that i started it, the computer made one
beep, the BIOS ran fine and then a black screen came up
with this error. i put the install disk in and it just
reboots and comes back to this error. is there any way i
can uninstall XP from the BIOS or any other way? please
help. thank you.

Hello!
How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

You might also look to see if there is a ' clear CMOS '
jumper on the mobo. Check the manual for location. Usually
it is a 3 pin header with a jumper cap on 2 of them ( 2-3 ?
)next to the battery. Move the jumper to the other pin (
1-2 ? ) for about 30 seconds, then move back.

I would first try to start Bios. How depends on your
mother board. Most you hit delete upon start-up, or f-10.
If you get into bios, select "restore defaults" and see
if this helps.
Or try starting in safe mode with XP in the drive and
reinstall XP, or if worst comes to worst, get an ME start-
up disk, start cpu with it in the drive, at A: prompt,
type fdisk, and reformat your hard drive and start from
scratch. If you dont know how to reformat, Email me and I
will give you instructions...
good luck, Sean
