My problem is very basic. I would like to upgrade to XP SP3. I find it easier
just to reformat my hard drive. So i was thinking of slipstreaming SP3 into
an existing SP2 CD. Then i found that microsoft were linking to iso that
contained SP3.

My problem:

Firstly im not sure whether to get retail, VOL, or the other (if there was
another)

My Prdouct - ID ( think it would kinda stupid to give my license key) is -
55274-640-8365391-*****

My computer is Xp Pro

My questions:

1) Which ISO should i download. Retail or volume or what.
2) Does SP3 include IE7 and WMP11 or will i have to slipstream them.

FYI:

I turned on autoupdate today ( I have 'notify' as option) - SP3 is listed
as only update
so if you DON"T want it - turn OFF autoupdate

I want to update but i do not want to use Windows Update.

I am planning a fresh installation using a slipstreamed SP3 CD

I need to know whether the CD will include IE7 and WMP11

and whether the Product ID listed above is for Volume, Retail or whatever
else

Service packs never include WMP, IE, etc. Never. Anyway, IE7 is not what
XP comes with. It comes with IE6.

re: KB938127 Security Update for Internet Explorer 7

We are aware of the issue that KB938127 does not install on XPSP3.
Microsoft is working on repacking this update to install on XPSP3. We will
let you know as soon as the issue's been resolved.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Jane.
