My windows xp sp2 has been corrupted. I cannot reformat my notebook or
re-install windows xp on it,when I am prompted to put the product key, cannot
input the data. It has affected even the MICROSOFT WORD and EXCEL. What can
be done to reformat my notebook?

This is Vista, not XP newsgroup!

Set your Bios to boot from CD Drive, with the XP installation disk in it,
and follow prompts.
You will have to delete the existing partition containing the corrupted XP
operating System.
Then formatt the Drive, and reinstall XP.

Read all choices that appear very carefully, and take the above steps.

Hi,

You should ask XP questions in an XP group to get proper information.

As you have a laptop, you likely have a proprietary recovery system. Consult
your system documentation or check at the manufacturer's website for
appropriate instructions on how to implement a full recovery. If you have a
retail disk, then it's as simple as booting the system from the CD and
running setup, formatting will be one of the options at the point where you
choose the installation location.
