Mr. Newt

Okay, d/l and installed XP SP2 Home. Was using Zone Alarm for my firewall,
but my friend convinced me that it was "so much window dressing" especially
now that XP SP2 has a decent firewall. I turned it on (had it off for a
while) and went to a couple sites and they reported my computer was
relatively safe (using XP's firewall), so I'm happy. Just a couple
questions:

1. Security logging, what's it for? Doesn't seem to log attempts to hack
my computer. In Zone Alarm you could see every ping and other hack attempt
when you looked at the log.

2. Why does file and printer sharing keep getting turned on in exceptions?
I keep turning it off, it keeps turning itself on.

Thanks.

The XP firewall will give you absolutely no control over what accesses
the Internet from your machine - you won't even know. I'd say you are
better off using ZoneAlarm and switching the XP firewall off.
