Hi,

I am having a weird issue. It seems that I can not double click on a *.exe
or *.msi in Wndows and have it launch the installer. I do not get any
errors, just nothing happens. In order for me to install something, I have
to go to the command prompt, browse to the file location and type in the
application name such as
c:\>appinstaller.exe

Can anyone assist me if fixing this issue as I have no idea what is causing
this and it is very inconvenient ?

Have you tried system restore? If you can't run it too the normal way, try it
on the command prompt.
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

I can not do a restore as it would mess up some of my applications plus I
would not know how far back to go. It has been going on for a while but I
just can not find a solution.

Thanks

What would cause me to be able to install from command line but not from
Windows ? Is it an association or registry entry...??? There must be a way
of fixing this...??? What is the difference in typing c:\appinstaller.exe
and double clicking on it in Windows XP ?

Thanks
