I dont think that you can install XPSP2 without the uninstall option. In
KB article 875364
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875364), under the
"Installing from the Internet by using Windows Updates", point No 8, states
that "Typically, Windows XP SP2 installation always creates an archive, and
you cannot avoid this option."
Create slipstreamed CD and use it for in-place upgrade and or installation
from scratch.
