XP shutdown

Although I am the only user, sometimes when I shutdown
(power-off) I get a message that another person or thing
is also logged on. Who is this mysterious intruder?

I doubt it's an intruder -.- But, since I've never had a
problem like this, I'll do my best. First of all, log in
as Admin, and go into the Control Panel and look around
at what users you have, if it's only you, it will be only
one username

generally programs that are still running,

possibly its not getting out of sleep/standby mode with
programs hanging

Not to be unduely alarmed, this is probably just fine.

To verify though, go to Start Button|All
Programs|Accessories|System Tools|System Information then
go to Software Environment and Network Connections. It
should show the network connections and who they are.

If need be check out a free personal firewall (e.g. Zone
Alarm or go to GRC.com (?) and run Shields Up) to protect
yourself.
