XP Shutdown Option

We've created a GPO and applied it to an organizational
unit for our corporate users that should allow them to
Shutdown the computer. However when they go to "Shut
Down" from the "Start" button the only option is "Log
Off". However we can use the "CTRL+ALT+DEL" key and get
the "Shutdown" option.

What do we need to do so that standard users on XP can
click on "Start" and shutdown from there?

Thanks in advance...

Hello JTT

Have you remove the ShutDown option in a parent OU?

However i will recomend you to not set that option at the Defualt Domain
Policy.

at the OU Object there you have the GPO to appile/allwo users to Shutdown
there system do the follow:

Right Click the OU -> Properties -> Group Policy Tab

Check the Block Policy inheritance.

Refresh your group policy at the worksation.

to make sure and she what policys applies to your worksation. run a tool
called gpresult in the command line. This tool is included in Windows XP.

Microsoft Windows XP - gpresult:

Christoffer-

Thanks for the help. My Domain Policy was applying to
the Computer Object and it is set only to allow
Administrators and Backup Users to shutdown the system.
So what I did was moved the client computers to separate
OU and block Inheritance and this solved my problem.

Thanks again.
