XP shutdown gives DEVLDR not responding

H

Hall

Whenever I do a shutdown or restart, I get a message saying
End Program - DEVLDR
This program is not responding
...

and I need to click on the "End Now" button.

What's causing this and how do I make it go away?

Hi,

You have a Creative Sound Blaster card? This is a known problem with some of
their driver sets (such as with the PCI512) and WinXP. Creative has yet to
resolve this issue with a proper driver set.

Yep, you'll just have to live with the notice - or get a different sound
card. I doubt at this point that Creative will bother fixing it.

I have a similar problem, but when I try to download and install the XP
driver patch for my Soundblaster, I get an error that "Setup could not detect
any Sound Blaster Live! Series WDM Drivers on your system".

Has anyone gotten around this? I used to use Windows2000, and everything
worked with the sound card, but I had problems getting software to run. Now
that I upgraded to XP, software runs, but my sound card doesn't work with the
software that came with it.

Please help. Thanks.
