XP Security Centre - - - Where art thou?

I inadvertently clicked yes to Norton's (recommended) request to turn off
third party security warnings and now XP's (SP2) Security Centre has
disappeared from my Notification Area (The Red Shield Icon). How can I bring
it back?

I actually do not know but I would not use Norton (Symantec) product if I
were you because the consumer versions are junk. You would be better off
switching to E-Trust Computer Associates EZARMOR for future protection since
it is a great antivirus and software firewall package in one box and there is
a special deal available on the web site now. I would not renew Norton
(Symantec) after it is over and switch then so you do not lose money. Sorry,
I am not sure of how to help you since the only Norton (Symantec) product I
use is GoBack which used to be a Roxio product and does not gunk up the
registry as much as Norton. Also, CA EZARMOR removes the associated registry
keys which Norton (Symantec) products do not do.

The security center icon only shows in the notification area when "something
is wrong". You have nothing to worry about regarding this action.

To access the Security Center,
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Security Center.

Thank you all who contributed with your answers, but I have not yet found out
how to "make" the Security Icon" reappear in the Notification area. I tried
to disable all except Microsoft services in MsConfig, but still no success.
Any further suggestions pls, before I contact Microsoft direct?

When all three Windows Security Center components, Firewall, Automatic
Updates, and Virus Protection, are in a secure and up–to-date state, no
alerts appear. This condition is known as the "green" state. If any one of
the three components are in a non-secure or undetectable state, a red icon
that is shaped like a shield appears in the icon tray and a balloon message
states that "Your computer might be at risk." This condition is known as the
"red" state.

You don't want the red icon in the icon tray. When you first installed the
Security Center, your firewall or virus protection probably wasn't
recognized. Now that they are, you don't need the icon.

That makes sense Ron: (now I am not so keen to have it flashing back at me!)
You have put my mind at rest. Thanks

I have a similar problem whereas Security Center does not appear in my
Services list. When I click Security Center in Control Panel, the Windows
Security Center window is displayed. There is nothing listed under the
Manage security settings for: section of the window.

I am running AVG 7.5.

How do I get it back?
