XP second copy discount with Dell PC

I recently purchased a Dell pc with XP Pro. Does anyone know if I would be
eligible to get a discount copy from Microsoft for my other pc? The MS web
site asks for the product key to determine that but I'm not sure I have one.
The cd that came with the Dell pc looks like a reinstall disk only and no
product key on it anywhere.

Hi

Are you being asked for the Product Key or the Product ID? If the latter,
you can find that by right clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties.
The PID is a 20 digit numerical code.

The Dell Reinstallation CD is an OEM version of Windows XP.
Microsoft does not offer additional Product Keys for OEM versions,
only "Retail Versions".

? ? Dell does so many different things it's hard to know! Even the
date of your purchase wouldn't tell. So, I can only tell you my
experience. I have a maroonish/brown WINDOWS XP Home CD.. and the
product ID is on the outside of the computer cabinet itself. I
understand from someone who did it, he call to MS with the request for
a second disk to use on his home computer, and it was sent to him ;he
paid the necessary shipping cost.
