XP RPC server is unabailable

I am trying to install a HP Photosmart 1000 printer and it gets almost trough the install when it gives an error that the RPC server in unavailable. and does not install the printer . I have checked in the service screen and the RPC is started and truned on to start auto. I can not seem to find a solution on how to fix it HELP

Yes it it opens the Dos screen then closes emeditaly closes
Under the Services window the Print spool is not started and when I try to start it the screen says Error 1068 The dependance server or group faild to star

OK, perhaps you previously had a Lexmark and did NOT uninstall it correctly.
See Bruce Sanderson's instructions.......disconnect the printer before
starting.... and take note of Bruce's special section on Lexmark printers.

I haven't seen your error on anyone that did NOT have a Lexmark, but that
doesn't mean it's unique to Lexmark.... I'm pretty sure it could refer to
any service that a printer manufacturer installed on your PC.

After the cleanup, reboot, download a new set of drivers from the website of
the printer you wish to install and install the package. Do NOT reconnect
the printer until the software tells you to do so.
