XP reinstallation

I have XP upgrade and want to reformat my HD and reinstall the OS. Do I have to start by installing WIN 98 first??

Why do you what to reformat? If you post your problems - they may be
solvable. A 'Repair' install may help:

If you have a qualifying CD from a previous version of Windows you can
install XP by producing that CD when asked for it - you won't have to
install Win 98 first:

XP - Home
