XP Reinstall

A DVD appears to have corrupted my XP Pro. The system will
not boot propery and I keep getting System will shut down
messages. When it does boot the machine crawls and is
unusable,

I am travelling and don't have any repair CD's but I do
have my XP product key. I have repaired windows ok using a
borrowed disk but now Office won't run and I get an
incomplete Service Pack message. SP1 won't install and I
get a message saying product key not recognised.

Is there any way I can use my legal product key or am I
stck until I can get home to my legal disks?

Did you use your product key during the repair?

I tried to but xp would not accept it. I used the key

that was on the disk I used. It loaded ok but MS does not
recognise the key as legal

You need the same sort of install media you have at home.
