I have a XP Home pc that randomly reboots itself several times daily. I have
reformatted the drive and reinstalled the OS and the few programs i'm
running. Does anyone have any trouble shooting ideas that would help me
locate what the problem might be?

Electrical power (check your UPS, outlet you plug it into, power supply in
the computer, lines powering the hard disk drives and motherboard.)

Memory (check your RAM, change the order in which they are inserted, etc.)

In other words - sounds more like hardware.

In addition to the previous suggestions, how much DUST is collected on the
CPU heat sink, and is the fan spinning?

You are presumably blue-screening, and you are set to reboot whenever
that happens. Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties. On the
Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery. Under System
failure, uncheck the box "Automatically restart.

Now when the problem occurs again, instead of restarting, you will get
the blue screen with diagnostic information. Post back with those
details for more help.

thank you for the suggestion, that will help me at least get an idea of the
error that is causing the problem.

thank you for the suggestions, I appreciate it

You're welcome. And by the way, as others have suggested, this is more
likely to be a hardware problem than a software one.
