Xp reading correct memory

I have just upgraded my memory to 4 gig. Now my BIOS reads it as 4 gig but XP
only reads it as 3.25 gig.
I have had conflicting views as to what this problem is and I am none the
wiser.
All 4 sticks are from the one batch and are DDR2 533Mhz

So can anyone point me in the right direction as to what to do?

Hi Eric, Going by CPU-z Version 1.31 it reads as 4 gig on the system.

Leave it be, as that is entirely normal behavior. What you see is what
is left over after the PCI addressing areas are removed from the 4 GB
address window.
