ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard wtih onboard Silicon Image
SATA controller. Two Seagate SATA 120GB drives connected
to onboard controller. BIOS indicates RAID 0
configuration working and shows both drives. Windows Disk
Management only shows C drive - does not even indicate 2nd
drive exists. Ideas?

I have the intel ICH5R raid controller built into my motherboard and am
running two 160GB SATA drives in a RAID 1.

XP has no idea the two 160 GB drives are a RAID. The RAID controller and
driver take care of everything.

On my system, I use the 'Intel application accelerator raid edition"
program to manage the RAID. If I launch this program I can see that the
RAID is working, look at a report on the drives that make up the RAID,
etc. Using this application is really the only way I know that the RAID
exists from within XP.

Well, I did have a drive fail a few weeks ago and I know the RAID 1
works because I was warned by the Intel software, and then after I got a
replacement drive I was able to rebuild the array without losing a bit
of data virtually automatically. No partitioning or formatting of the
replacement drive either. The raid software took care of everything
except my high blood pressure as I watched the process.

Do you have software that allows you to manage the RAID from within XP?
I think that may be the only way to know if the RAID is working.
