Hi all -

I'm looking to set up my personal computer as a backup to a DNS & Web server
that I'm running. I know that with XP Pro, you can download administrative
tools as well as set up a web and ftp server. I cannot find anywhere the
ability to run DNS on XP Pro. Is this possible, and if so, what am I
missing?

Thanks!

Dave

You can't run DNS on XP Pro. You must have a server.

Windows XP is not a server operating system.
Windows XP runs IIS 5.1 (as opposed to 6.0 of the Windows Server 2003
series.)
You could run a third party DNS server, but I do not believe XP itself could
be a DNS server for more than itself.
(And the connections limitations make it a poor Web server too.)
