XP PRO will not reinstall

I have OEM xp-pro disk and i have recently changed hard drive and memory in
my home built computer that was working. I wanted to do a clean install as
there were many installs/un installs over time. When I insert the cd I get
the choices and I choose clean install and it formats the drive and starts to
do the windows install but it never completes and I end with a blue screen.
I was wondering if this is something to do with the number of installs that
can be done from the cd. I have had the cd for some time now and have
successfully repaired or re installed the os over the past few years.

Any help would be great

It has nothing to do with how many times you've installed an OS on that
machine. Failure to install an operating system usually is because of
faulty hardware:

1. Bad OS install disk
2. Bad CD/DVD drive
3. Bad RAM
4. Bad hard drive

Whether hardware is new is irrelevant; in fact if hardware is going to
fail it will usually do so quite quickly (sometimes even right out of
the box) or go for years.

Thanks will do some further research. I have already tried with a number of
hard drives ... will work on the ram ... the OS disk appears to be clean and
with out scratches

I had a problem once with a cd/dvd drive that would not install the OS. I
tried another drive and it worked fine.

Have you researched the blue screen stop error? get the exact number and
look it up, it should give you enough info to resolve whats causing the blue
screen.
